How close was that? KPMG secure their first top place finish with as winning strike in the final against their dear rivals Team Deloitte with the last hit of the ball to win by a single goal and take 100 Decathlon Points. Having won each of their matches in the qualifying fixtures it was a well deserved, though very close victory. It was hardly bad news for the rummers up who started the day a mere 10 points behind league leaders, Edinburgh Leisure and finished the day a mere 10 points ahead to regain pole position in this year's Corporate Decathlon. And of course Edinburgh Leisure themselves managed to stay very much in contention securing third place with a solid win over Searching For Challenges and bagging 60 very valuable Decathlon points. In the 3rd / 4th play-off Searching For Challenges couldn't repeat their earlier success against Edinburgh Leisure but for the second event in a row 'Good Sports Team of the Day' went to a City Council team. Primarily secured through Event Captain dishing out the Jelly Babies but also, in the words of Grange Hockey Club, 'for dives Tom Daley would have been proud of'.
Many thanks to Maggie Conacher of Grange Hockey Club; from the resounding cheers of approval it looks like there's a pretty high chance of seeing this one back again in next year's programme.
