Netball for All
On your marks, get set, go.................
Netball kicks off the 2011 Decathlon season as one of the most popular events of all and is the first of 4 in this year's 'Team Series Challenge'..
Match Report
What a great start to The Edinburgh Corporate Decathlon 2011.
Great skill, determination, team-spirit and good fun were all in abundance for the inaugural event, Netball For All.
Blue Liners marched off with the Champions Trophy having won every match they played. With free tickets for The Sports Ball, Champagne, 12 month-long passes for Edinburgh Leisure, another trophy for the cabinet and 100 Decathlon points we take our hats off once again to The Blue Liners.
It wasn't all straight forward though; Deloitte played extremely well throughout and pushed the eventual winners all the way in the final with a tremendous push in the second half of the final scoring 4 goals without reply - alas, the final whistle blew and it was Runners Up spot and 80 Decathlon points.
Edinburgh Leisure enjoyed victory in the 3rd / 4th place playoff after what can only be described as a slow start - and a strong finish. With 60 Decathlon points it's a good start for our Event hosts.
Wolfson Warriors played consistently throughout winning three of their qualifying matches and secured 40 Decathlon Points into the bargain. And no, no trophy at the Prize Giving - apologies again from your Tournament Director!
Searching For Challenges pipped Mercy Corps for 5th place on Goal Difference and each team is awarded 30 Decathlon Points and 20 Decathlon Points respectively.
Thanks again to City of Edinburgh Netball Association, Red Cross, Gracemount Leisure and Rick & Nikki for helping out. But most importantly, a big thank you to all players and spectators for taking part in such a positive and enthusiastic manner.
Upwards and onwards to Waterpolo Experience on 19th April. And, don't forget, Clubhouse Social on 31st March.
