Roll your ball up to the Jack, score points - couldn't be simpler - or could it?
Match Report
They were keen, they were enthusiastic, they had maximum attendance at the training sessions, they arrived on the evening before the Bowling Club was even officially open, and they romped to victory winning all of their fixtures. They are of course, 'Searching For Challenges' - and secured 100 Decathlon Points into the bargain.
What a great evening under the flood lights of Dean Bowling Club. Despite the thunder of recent days the weather was kind to us and stayed dry throughout, though it did get a little chilly towards the end.
Although the 1st place podium was a categoric victory, 2nd / 3rd was much closer. It ultimately came down to the final fixture between Deloitte and Wolfson Warriors with the former going into the fixture 2 points ahead. However, the 'warrior' spirit came to the fore with Wolfson coming out on top comfortably 6 - 0. Whilst Deloitte were left to consider tactics and collect 60 points, Wolfson Warriors collected the Runners Up trophy and 80 all important Decathlon points. Tournament Director's 'Man of the Match' clearly went to Ivona Vickovic from Wolfson who stepped into the team at the 11th hour when their Bowling Captain had to withdraw - and she performed marvelously.
The 4th and 5th placings went to Edinburgh Leisure and In It For Fun respectively. Finishing on the same number of points Edinburgh Leisure secured the higher finish due the head-to-head going in their favour, 4 - 0.
The Prize Giving included a resounding call from all participants to see the event return to next year's Decathlon. On this evidence, let's not be too surprised if it does!
