Hockey Challenge
Making a welcome return in 2011, and to our favourite outdoor venue, Peffermill. It's the final Challenge of the 2011 Edinburgh Corporate Decathlon Season and it's still all to play for. Registration will open at 11am with a scheduled finish time of 4pm after The Prize Giving.
Another big thank you to The Grange Hockey Club for supporting us with this event and the training sessions leading up to it.
Match Report and Results
And there we have it, the final event of the 2011 Corporate Decathlon is behind us - and a very enjoyable event it was too. With Edinburgh Leisure struggling with the gender mix requirement the tone and spirit of the day was sealed before we started as other teams stepped in with offers of assistance - tremendous stuff. Maggie of The Grange Hockey Club, who's been here before, commented on the fact that this year's event demonstrated significantly higher levels of spoortsmanship and fun than previous - so a great credit to all.
Searching For Challenges laid down their marker in the first fixture with a resounding victory over Edinburgh Leisure - and never looked back going on to lift the Trophy. Deloitte who clinched second place with two wins and a very entertaining draw in the round-robin, went on meet Searching For Challenges in a final of great quality and tremendous endeavour. The third podium went to Wolfson Warriors who were spurred on relentlessly by their non-playing Captain, Neil Whyte, who kept his team (and everyone else) thoroughly entertained throughout with his wit and great humour. Finally, no points, but hats off to In it for Fun who, with a depleted squad, put in a tremendous shift and remained extremely positive throughout. Well done to all, and of course, especially to Searching For Challenges for another 1st place position.
