Highland Games of Edinburgh
Games Report and Results
Despite serious concerns in the days leading up to the event, the weather behaved reasonably well throughout and the teams for City of Edinburgh Council, Searching For Challenges and In It For Fun put in a tremendous showing to pick up first and second places respectively.
Consequently, SFC move into first place with the thinnest possible of margins over Deloitte at the top of the Leader Board with In It For Fun significantly closing the gap on Wolfson Warriors (who sadly couldn't attend on the day) at the other end of the table. The Charity Challenge 2011 went to Edinburgh Leisure.
An enjoyable day throughout. There was a resounding call for its return in 2012 during the Prize Giving - so it will almost certainly make a return to next year's programme.
The afternoon Challenge events started off with a victory in the 4km Fun Run for SFC securing a first place for the females and a second for the males securing 180 Games' points into the bargain.
The top discipline score of the day went to SFC in The Hammer, scoring a maximum 600 points for top place finishes in both male & female.
The Broad Jump top placing was shared between SFC and Deloitte, both scoring 460 Highland Games' points with the former winning the female event and the latter, the male event.
In It For Fun put in an excellent performance in the Caber Tossing with 550 points - 290 for the female discipline and 260 for the male.
SFC secured another top place podium in the penultimate Challenge the Tug O' War by which time the The 100m Sprint result became academic in the overall positioning.
Tremendous effort and spirit shown by all - thank you!
