Hunting Touch Rugby Challenge
It is a non-contact sport that is becoming increasingly popular!
The Touch Rugby Challenge is the seventh event in the Aberdeen Corporate Decathlon. Basketball, Touch Rugby and Highland Games form the Team Sports Series.
The Sport: Touch started in Australia in 1923 as a social or "park" game and as a training technique for rugby league. It was not then viewed as a sport in its own right. It was formalised into a sport proper by the "Founders of Touch", Bob Dyke and Ray Vawdon of the South Sydney Junior Rugby League Club. Touch rugby is a great social summer sport that allows not only avid rugby players but also beginners to take part due to the uncomplicated rules.
The Challenge: The tournament is for mixed teams between six and fourteen squad members. It is the Team Captains role to delegate and coordinate team players. Training sessions with the Scottish Touch Association allow teams to increase their skills and allows them to develop any tactics they wish to use.

Event Information
It is recommended for teams to have numbers on the backs of your shirts. This will be an advantage as the referees will use this to communicate which players are offside.
There are places in Aberdeen that can apply numbers to any shirts that teams already have so there is still time to get these if required.
Please park responsibly and leave no valuables in your car at any time. Limited car parking is available - we recommend to car share if possible.

Scottish Touch Association
At a national level, the Scottish Touch Association (STA) is the governing body of touch in Scotland. Its main aim is to promote and develop touch at all levels. Visit www.scottishtouch.org.uk.
The STA aims to be a one-stop point of contact for information on and assistance with touch in Scotland. The STA also offers refereeing and coaching courses, and organises the selections and training for the national squads.
The STA also administers the Scottish National Touch Championships (SNTC), held in September between regional representative sides. This tournament doubles as a selection tool for the national squad.
The STA are the only official body in Scotland affiliated to the Federation of International Touch (FIT), the international governing body of touch. This entitles Scotland to participate in international tournaments and to hold FIT-sanctioned events in Scotland. In fact the STA has won the right to host the 2011 Touch World Cup in Edinburgh.
At a local level, there are different leagues in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and Stirling. These are administered locally, although they do affiliate to the STA.
