Climbing Challenge
Drive colleagues up the wall!
The Climbing Challenge, along with Mountain Biking and Badminton, form the Individual Pursuits Sports Series in the Aberdeen Corporate Decathlon.
The Sport: Climbing was first heralded as a sport in England in the late 1880s after a well publicised solo ascent of the Napes Needle in Cumbria by Walter Parry Haskett Smith. Since then, rock climbing has attracted increasing numbers of participants.
The Challenge: This event will include a variety of set challenges, designed by the pro's at Transition Extreme's iconic climbing centre. Each team will receive a minimum of 1 practice session coached by Transition's expert staff.
Never been rock climbing before? If not, this is your chance to try an extreme sport in the relative safety of the indoor, artificial structures instead of the real thing!

Transition Extreme opened its doors to the public on 15th April 2007 and to this day remains true to its conceptual aim – to be a truly modern social enterprise using urban sports and their cultures to attract and engage the local youth population.
What do I need to wear to the event?
Please wear clothing that is easy to move in and would be comfortable and safe to put a harness over. Shoes should be trainers, climbing shoes or anything that would be safe to climb in.
Do I need to attend the activitymix training in order to compete on event day if I’m registered as a ‘competent climber’ with Transition Extreme?
No, you don’t. But why would you want to miss another chance to climb with your team and meet new people from other companies training with you!?
When does my team climb?
League 1 will be competing in the morning and League 2 and Wild Cards (from both Leagues) will be competing in the afternoon. Please see Pre-Event information and Fixtures (above) for exact times closer to the event date.
Will spectators be allowed?
Spectators and children are welcome. There is limited viewing space available. Please ensure that children are supervised at all times
