Jules Lancastle
Jules graduated the University of Newcastle upon Tyne with a business management degree in 1995. Her career has included recruitment, conference production and leadership development before she established her own training consultancy in 2002, and then went on to establish activitymix. Interestingly, Jules hated sport at school!
'I have never been the most athletic person and it's fair to say I was rubbish at every sport I tried at school! Things changed at University when I tried rugby. As a front row forward I finally saw the power of sport participation. As captain, coach and referee at different levels, I developed many transferable skills. My team and I were evangelical about our club and it has never ceased to amaze me that come hail or shine; snow, wind or rain, we would all turn up to do our job; none of us wanting to let our team mates down. Our engagement levels were sky high, and we worked hard to raise club funds, recruit new players, and find new sponsors, simply because we knew that was what was required to be successful!
Having experienced high levels of engagement through sport, Jules has been keen to help corporate clients introduce or retain such levels of engagement in their work environments.
'For me, activitymix is about using sport over time to inspire people to be more than a job title! There is at least one sport that will inspire each of us to get active, get involved and contribute more as a leader, coach, player or superfan!! These are all great skills and mindsets that are transferable into our business world. Once we've found activities we like doing with colleagues, the power of the team naturally picks us up; helps us overcome challenges and go the extra mile.'
Jules rekindled her entrepreneurial flare with activitymix, having first developed it in the high-octane world of bee-keeping, (yes folks, included in her broad spectrum of knowledge are the secrets of small-scale honey production!). However it was Jules' experience with leadership development organisation Common Purpose where she worked with senior executives and emerging leaders across the UK, that really helped her develop ideas around the win-win model on which activitymix is founded; meeting corporate objectives in a way that is naturally beneficial to the local communities in which we operate.
Jules lives in London and Aberdeen (!) enjoying the vibrant city life of the capital and the great outdoors of north east Scotland.
