Wood Group decathlon captain wins People Living our Values Award
Congratulations to Kathryn Petrie, winner of the June 2012 Wood Group People Living our Values Award, which has recognised her dedication and hard work within the Aberdeen Corporate Decathlon:
“Kathryn is a corporate communications coordinator within the Group Corporate Communications team based in Aberdeen, UK. As part of her role, Kathryn is responsible for Wood Group’s participation in the Aberdeen Corporate Decathlon (TeamWG). This is a local activity in which different companies compete in 10 events, and which fosters teamwork, builds relationships, celebrates success, encourages personal development and invests in our people, all key elements of the People Core Value.
Kathryn is in her second year as Captain of TeamWG and works extremely hard to promote the decathlon and encourage participation across all Wood Group businesses in Aberdeen.
Kathryn invests a significant amount of her own time into the event, outside of working hours, in terms of coordinating teams, managing training sessions, participating in training and events, and of course cheering on her Wood Group colleagues. This involves evenings and weekends over a period of several months. TeamWG won the decathlon in 2011 which was a huge boost to everyone who participated and a great endorsement for Kathryn’s leadership and organisational skills. They were presented with a trophy at a sports ball which enabled them to celebrate their success.
The decathlon is hugely popular with everyone who participates, with many people choosing to take part in more than one event so that they can develop existing skills or gain new ones. TeamWG is already doing well in 2012 and is looking forward to this year’s remaining events.”
