Supporting Local Activity Providers
More than £4,000 has been raised for grass root sports clubs at the annual fundraising raffles held at activitymix Sports Awards.
Amongst the organisations to benefit from the subsequent donations were the City of London Darts Association, Dean Bowling Club in Edinburgh and the North East Badminton Group in Aberdeen who commented:
“We continue to see larger numbers of players returning to the sport that may have given up years ago. This donation will go towards coaching costs and the cost of helping young players attend tournaments in Scotland and abroad.”
The City of London Darts Association assisted with the London Darts Challenge. “The donation will help us get more people playing darts in the city of London, as well as encouraging new venues to install proper facilities.”
Dean Bowling Club will use their donation to support: “the junior section of the Dean bowling club to buy new bowling equipment such as bowls, jacks, shoes etc. This will aid us to introduce new people of all ages into the sport of bowls. We also have blind bowlers and kids who have different disabilities playing at the Dean Bowling Club, so any new equipment will generally help people of all ages playing the sport”.
